Maybe it’s that a photographed object has a life that a synthetic element doesn’t? Maybe in the pursuit of total realism, something got missed. Maybe we don’t want to see objects described by light as they must be, but as they could be, as fantastic and mysterious and perhaps filtered through another perspective as art must be.
